Victory Trike started installing e-Assist motors in 2016 and quickly grew into one of the top retailers of Bionx motor systems in the United States. We continued with Bionx exclusively till there sudden and unexpected demise in 2018. We then immediatly began surching for a comperable system that is as smooth and reliable as the Bionx systems were. It was a LONG JOURNEY, but we now have TWO great systems to sell and install.....
BAD EXPERIENCE
("Lesson Learned" System)
We became a dealer (of a company we choose not to publicly shame) and purchased a small number of hub systems and it was a total train wreck. After putting in hours upon hours trying to get reliable smooth function, we finally gave up and returned all the systems and took a huge loss from this company's restock policy.
BAFANG
(Not Smooth Enough)
Again, we were on a search and the industry was heading towards mid-drive and away from hub systems. We then tried the ever popular Bafang system. These work great but are heavy and very abrupt when they kick on and off. After researching why, we relized this is because they use a "cheaper" speed sensing system and not a smoother "torque sensing" system (like the ultra smooth Bionx systems were). So, again we were searching.....
We looked and looked......then, one day I was looking at a high end folding bike company's site, that I personlly own one of there bikes, and they started selling an unknown to me at the time motor system. It was a Tongsheng TSDZ2 motor system. This high end folding bike company explained a similar journey to find a excellent, smooth, reliable and affordable e-Assist system and they found it in the TSDZ2 motor system. We purchase a single system and put it through the paces. WE HAVE A WINNER! That was about a year and a half ago and since then we have sold loads of the TSDZ2 systems! They use the more expensive "Torque Sensor" system to put power to the pedals in a smooth way such as the Bionx system did. The power is an instant on and instant off for a very smooth feeling power. Its small, light, smooth and does not take a proprietary battery which customers will appreciate years down the road. And WOW! the range on a single charge is AMAZING! MORE INFO >>>> CLICK HERE
Then came along the Catrike E-CAT system using the Bosch assist system. As of this writing they are just hitting the dealers doors but we have had one for about a week now and are impressed. Its VERY smooth, can help you carry a 19 MPH pace with very little effort (in the highest setting) and according to the specs from Bosch has pretty impressive tourqe and range.
